Facts, Patterns and Statistical Trends

Released each Monday, this report is intended to help you find facts, insights and trends from the raw player data. This report is all about numbers and finding stats and insights that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Entering NFL Week #8...

Quarterbacks:

Brady, Tom - Brady has at least 265 yards in each of his last 3 starts. Over the last two weeks, Brady has 11 touchdowns and is 52-for-71 for 742 passing yards. Like it or not, it's time to start asking: Are Brady and Randy Moss the greatest single season QB-WR combo ever? Nobody makes it look easier.

Griese, Brian - The Bears love to run right? We'll not exactly. Griese has attempted over forty passes in each of his last 2 games. Red hot, over the last two weeks, Griese has completed 53-of-86 passes for 703 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Roethlisberger, Ben - Always an undervalued FF QB, last week, on the road, Ben passed for 290 yards & 4TDs. For the season, Big Ben has been involved in 76% of the Steelers TDs this year.

Rosenfels, Sage - In a mismatch against the Tennessee defense last week, in very limited playing time, Sage was good for 290 yds+ 4TDs. For the season, he has completed over 70% of his passes this year! With the Texans ground game stuck in neutral and their defense giving up big points, Rosenfels could be a nice pickup if Matt Schaub is unable to go.

Running Backs:

Addai, Joseph - On fire, Addai has reached the endzone in each of his last 4 games. Will the Jags stop him on MNF?

Barber, Marion - Posting 5.30 yards per crack over the last 2 weeks.

Brown, Ronnie - he had put up 5 games in a row of 100 or more total yards! If Jesse  Chatman can do 80% as good, he'll make for an excellent addition to your lineup.

Bush, Reggie - Reggie has accounted for 333 total yards of offense in his last 3 games for New Orleans.

Chatman, Jesse - Last week's showing against NE... 7-73 1TD 1rec 9yds. He looked good. The only concern is we saw him walking off the field a little dinged at points.

Cobbs, Patrick - With Ronnie Brown out and Jesse Chatman catching his wind, Cobbs came in near the goal against NE and ended the game with 3-rushes, 14-yards and 1TD to go with 1rec 9yds.

Drew, Maurice - Maurice Drew has a 2 game streak of 100+ total yards on the line this week against Indy.

Droughns, Reuben - Looking back at his last two games, we see he's gaining 5.11 yds/rush.

Gore, Frank - He posted 14-88 0TD 3rec 23yds last week against New York.

Graham, Earnest - Against Detroit last week, his box score read 19-92 0TD 13rec 99yds. Still, no TDs in his last three games.

Green, Ahman - Last week against Tennessee, he cranked out 11-39 0TD 5rec 32yds. For the season, Green has yet to hit 100-yards in a game.

Henry rb, Chris - In last week's game against Houston, rookie RB Chris Henry looked good and contributed 11-57 1TD 2rec 12yds for the Titans. Still, keep in mind he only had 269 carries his entire college career and only averaged 3.8 yards per rush attempt.

Jacobs, Brandon - Checking out the past 2 weeks, we see Brandon is gaining an incredible 6.23 yards each time he gets handed the ball.

James, Edgerrin - As the go-to, he's posted 4 games in a row with twenty or more rushing attempts.

Johnson, Larry - His numbers from last week include 24-112 1TD 6rec 21yds. Over the last two weeks, Johnson has 231 yards rushing, 45 receiving yards and 2 TDs.

Jones, Julius - Some might be surprised to learn, he's picking up 5.27 yds/attempt (last 2 weeks).

Jones, Kevin - 15-76 1TD 6rec 34yds last week playing against Tampa Bay. Over his last two games he's averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

Lynch, Marshawn - Last game, 27-84 1TD 3rec 14yds. While not always spectacular, he's yet to have a BUST game this year.

Mcgahee, Willis - Last week's performance amounted to 19-114 1TD 2rec 1yd. A "typical" Willis McGahee game this year? 117 Yds and 0.4 TDs per game (when removing his high & low games).

Morris, Maurice - Last week Seattle played St. Louis, Morris ran 10-42 0TD 2rec 18yds. Over the last two weeks, Mo Morris is averaging 4.2 yards per carry, Shaun Alexander 2.4 per rush. Just saying.

Norwood, Jerious - Over the last two games, Norwood has ran at a clip of 10.42 yds/carry. When will ATL finally break down and give him more carries?

Parker, Willie - Predictably handing him the pigskin, the STEELERS have given Parker the ball 20+ times in each of his last 2 ballgames.

Peterson bears, Adrian - He is fresh off a 4-21 0TD 3rec 33yds effort last week playing against Philadelphia.

Peterson, Adrian - Adding scoring cohesiveness, rookie Peterson has found the endzone in each of his last 2 performances for Minny.

Portis, Clinton - He put up 18-43 2TD 2rec 14yds in his game last week against Arizona. A "typical" Clinton Portis game this year? 88 Yds and 0.75 TDs/Game (when removing his high & low games).

Sapp, Cecil - vs. Pittsburgh last week, he posted 1-3 1TD 1rec 1yd for Denver.

Thomas, Pierre - His production last week against Atlanta: 2-28 1TD.

Watson, Kenny - against New York he had put up 157 yds of offense and 3 TDs. In his last 21 carries, Rudi Johnson is averaging less than one yard per attempt. In his last 66 attempts, Watson is averaging over 4.7 per carry.

Westbrook, Brian - His performance against Chicago last week amounted to 18-79 0TD 6rec 40yds. On the downside, B-West has only scored in one of five games this year.

White, Lendale - Sticking to the game plan like glue, the TITANS have asked White to run the ball 20+ times in each of his last 2 contests.

Wide Receivers:

Battle, Arnaz - He's landed in the endzone in each of his last 2 showings.

Boldin, Anquan - He's been good for a TD in each of his last 2 showings.

Burress, Plaxico - Burress has a streak of 5+ receptions in each of his last 3 ball games.

Coles, Laveranues - Last week against Cincinnati he generated 2 touchdowns and 133 yards! LC has accounted for 50% of the Jets offensive TDs this year.

Davis, Andre - Had 1 TD & 88 YDs last week playing against Tennessee.

Evans, Lee - Last week against Baltimore: 5 receptions & 98 yards. 12 grabs in his last 3 games.

Fitzgerald, Larry - He's got a streak of 6 consecutive games with 5 or more receptions.

Hilliard, Ike - Against Detroit last week, his figures included 1 TD & 92 YDs. Over the last three weeks, Hilliard is averaging 7.0 Receptions, 10.0 Yards/Rec, 69.7 Total Yards and 0.33 TDs per game.

Holmes, Santonio - Making a habit of it, he's on a streak of 2 consecutive games with a TD.

Houshmandzadeh, T.j. - He's scored a touchdown in each of his last 6 games!

Mason, Derrick - He has 23 receptions over his last 3 games.

Moss, Randy - On a scoring roll, Moss has picked up a TD in each of his last 2 contests.

Owens, Terrell - With consistency, he's picked up a TD in each of his last 2 games for Dallas.

Stallworth, Donte - On fire, Donte has found the endzone in each of his last 3 games.

Toomer, Amani - Adding scoring cohesiveness, Toomer has a TD in each of his last 2 performances.

Walter, Kevin - In his last 3 games, he's picked up 324 yards!

Wayne, Reggie - He has reached scoring pay-dirt with a TD in each of his last 2 contests. Can the Jags stop him?

Welker, Wesley - He's scored a TD in 43% of his games this year.

White, Roddy - Last week against New Orleans, White generated 8 receptions, 110 yards and 1 TD. In his last two games, White has scored a TD and is 12-174 receiving.

Williams, Roydell - He posted 5rec & 124yds last week against Houston. With Brandon Jones out, Williams is getting the job done.

Tight End:

Brady, Kyle - On a scoring roll, Kyle Brady has picked up a TD in each of his last 2 contests.

Clark, Dallas - As an integral part of Indianapolis' offense, he has caught 4+ balls in each of his last 4 games.

Clark, Desmond - He's registered 3 or more catches in each of his last 4 contests.

Gonzalez, Tony - Total yardage in the last three weeks? Try 268.

Heller, Will - Will assembled 2 touchdowns and 18 yards last week against St. Louis.

Miller, Heath - His stats from last week include 2 TDs & 50 yards. Miller has 21% of all the Steelers receptions this year. Not bad for a TE.

Olsen, Greg - He's pulled in 4 or more passes in each of his last 3 outings!

Scheffler, Tony - Terrific speed, comes in and out of breaks fast and accelerates well.  Last game, against Pit he racked up 50 yards & 1 TD. If he can stay healthy, he'll do fine with Javon Walker out.

Witten, Jason - Over the last 3 weeks, Witten has generated 236 receiving yards.
