Leather shoes last best if they're rested between wearing. We recommend having more than one pair so that your child doesn't have to wear the same pair every day. Leather retains moisture from feet, which may cause it to dry and crack over time if you don't give them a chance to air out for a day or so. Rotating them will help keep them looking better for a longer period.

Polish early and often. Leather thrives on natural oils, so polish shoes regularly if you want them to last. Avoid synthetics and choose high quality cream polishes or beeswax.

Smooth leather - Use a shoe brush to remove obvious dirt. Then, use a soft cloth and shoe or leather cleaner to gently rub away remaining dirt, which will restore the shine while maintaining the leather's supple quality.

Napped leather
Nubuck - use an eraser to rub away dirt and scuffs. Special nubuck erasers are available at shoe repair shops, but clean desk erasers work also. Use soft cloth and shoe cleaner to gently rub away any remaining dirt.

Suede - use a suede brush or other shoe brush on dirt and scuffs. Use soft cloth and shoe cleaner to gently rub away any remaining dirt.

Patent Leather - Clean with a soft cloth using shoe products designed specifically for patent leather--or just rub a little petroleum jelly on the surface.

Canvas - Canvas or other textile shoes will clean up better if cleaned before they become extremely soiled. Use a soft brush to scrub them before using shoe cleaner.

All of the above leathers except patent leather may be sprayed with a waterproofing spray to protect against both water and dirt.

Do NOT use soap and water to clean shoes, nor put them in the washing machine or dryer. If wet, do not dry over heat. Instead, stuff with rags or newspaper and allow to air dry.

The insole is removable on many Naturino styles. Replacement insoles are available for $7.00.
